I have my great-grandfather's bible -- not "written in" but exceptionally tattered -- apparently he used it in his principal avocation ~~ which was teaching other people, adults, to read... that gives me great comfort!Crimson Ramblerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13020190454645032359noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6244481070298009301.post-33845203694407658702013-09-27T14:34:59.661-07:002013-09-27T14:34:59.661-07:00Living memories, keeping love alive in you. We have been on many journeys together, as evidenced by words written by others and by me in the margins. It travelled with me from Australia to Scotland, and while I use an entirely different version of the bible these days, this old falling-apart friend sits as a silent witness to a variety of relationships - with God, with friends, and perhaps even with myself.<br />Great post - thanks!Nikhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03500372331937107264noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6244481070298009301.post-74534192018688176452013-09-19T07:18:12.555-07:002013-09-19T07:18:12.555-07:00i like that "rooted firmly, ready to fly"...i like that "rooted firmly, ready to fly"... apt description of ministry in general... one call to another... and yet life too... rooted here, yet when the time comes ready to fly. reminds me of that old gospel tune "i'll fly away"... yep.Hot Cup Lutheranhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00125425492709186198noreply@blogger.com
